I dont see any changes in sync behavior when I check or uncheck "sync only checked songs and videos". I struck a problem in iTunes 22.214.171.124, where suddenly all the songs in my albums/artists were greyed out. Albums would also only play a single song. I went to Songs, selected all, right clicked, chose Tick and this fixed my issues – all the songs were black again and albums would be played out correctly.
